Inspired by our local fleet of divers who live and work in our remote seaside community, the illustrated diving helmet featured on this t-shirt was designed by award-winning Tlingit Alaskan artist and picture book illustrator, Michaela Goade.

In Alaska, divers are commercial fishermen too, and the diving helmet is an iconic Alaskan image. While divers use boats to reach the harvesting areas, harvesting occurs by hand along the seafloor. Most commercial diving occurs in Southeast Alaska where there are three species of invertebrates open to commercial diving: geoduck clams, sea cucumbers, and red sea urchins.

One of our most sought after products, Smoked Geoduck, features diver-harvested geoduck from nearby waters. Nearly all of the harvest is shipped live to overseas markets, however through strong relationships with our local diving fleet and increased demand from our customers (that's you!) we are always able to secure a small portion of the harvest for smoking at our cannery. Dry-cured with local sea salt, sugar and spices, before smoking over alder, we call it clam bacon.

Gift Giving Pro-Tip: Looking for a unique gift? Pair this t-shirt with a can of our Smoked Geoduck.

Made from an exceedingly soft fabric blend, this super-soft Next Level 6010 crew is instantly loved by all who wear it.
